The civil construction and maintenance industry recognised that there was a gap in management training that was accessible to all of industry.

With an ageing workforce and the increasing infrastructure activity happening across Australia, industry was witnessing an escalation in risk to project completion, contract commercial issues, and workplace safety.

So the industry took action.

Civil Contractors Federation (CCF NSW Pty Ltd)

The Civil Contractors Federation is the peak industry body representing Australia's civil construction and maintenance industry.

The CCF NSW Branch identified the need, did the research into what other industries around the world were doing to improve management standards, and used that information to build a model for civil.

The national CCF Board endorsed a proposal from CCF NSW to support the development of  ICI. In doing so the Civil Industry Management Standards were created with a process from graded recognition (for civil infrastructure supervisors, managers and leaders) and also a career support program for use in Australia.
